Public hearing Aug. 10 for transportation plan amendment

The Metropolitan Council has scheduled an in-person public hearing for 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 10 to provide public comment on the Draft 2050 Transportation Policy Plan Amendment #3 at the beginning of the regular Metropolitan Council Transportation Committee meeting at 560 N. Sixth Avenue, Minneapolis.

The Met Council is taking public comments on amending the 2050 Transportation Policy Plan in the Imagine 2050 Regional Development Guide to update and add significant regional bus rapid transit projects.

Regionally significant transit projects

This amendment adds elements of these bus rapid transit projects to the policy plan.
  1. The amendment proposes to update the METRO Purple Line to the METRO Bronze Line and adopt the revised 9.8-mile alignment in St. Paul and Maplewood for the Bronze Line to include 4.9 miles of bus lanes.
  2. The amendment proposes to add two projects identified in the Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Plan, including the METRO J Line (West 7th corridor, between Union Depot in downtown St. Paul to the Mall of American Transit Center in Bloomington, with service to the MSP International Airport), and the K Line (Nicollet Avenue corridor between downtown Minneapolis and American Boulevard in Bloomington).
