Internships

The Met Council's internship program educates and mentors interns through
professional, on-the-job training and development.

The Met Council’s Internship Program offers professional development opportunities for students in a variety of post-secondary fields of study. Our internships are designed to provide students meaningful work and be an introduction to public service and a chance to discover the Met Council. Whether they are out on a construction site, in the lab, or in the office, their work at the Met Council matters.

Internships last a minimum of 12 weeks in the summer, with many lasting a year or longer.

Participants receive an hourly rate of $25.20 or $25.40, depending on position.

12-week summer programs

In addition to traditional internships, the Met Council offers two summer internship programs.

The Met Scholars and Ability internship programs are 12-week leadership development internships that provide distinctive professional experience for students from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. These interns have a traditional internship experience with additional career and professional development.

However, as a Met Scholar or Ability intern, you will also spend each Friday with the rest of your cohort in professional and leadership development programming, gaining new skills and creating a resume-building career pathway.

The Met Scholars leadership and professional development program welcomes students and/or recent graduates from all racial and ethnic backgrounds.

The Ability internship program at the Met Council is designed to increase opportunities for students and/or recent graduates who have disabilities.
