The Metropolitan Council is proposing several fare-related changes to simplify transit fares across the region, reduce some fares, and implement new technology.
The proposed changes for 2026 include:
- A single express fare of $3 per ride (no peak/off-peak)
- Expanding the age range for $1 youth fares to any one age 6 to 18.
- A single Metro micro fare of $4 per ride (no peak/off-peak) plus free transfers to regular route transit.
- Simplifying all reduced fares for youth, seniors, limited mobility, and Transit Assistance Program to $1 per ride.
