Project Description

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (Met Council) is planning to rehabilitate three sandstone sewer tunnels in West Side Saint Paul.

The project will include construction of new shallow sewer above existing tunnels. Properties that are currently served by the existing tunnels will have their services redirected to the shallow-grade sewer. There will be no assessment to residents by Met Council as part of this work. Reconnecting service lines to the new main will be paid through existing municipal rates to the City of Saint Paul.

Project Schedule

The project's planning phase was completed in 2025. Detailed facility design will take place from 2026 through 2028, with construction scheduled to begin in 2029 and be completed in 2030.
