Metro Water Resource Recovery Facility

Overview

The Metro Water Resources Recovery Facility is located at 2400 Childs Road, Saint Paul.

As part of its mission to improve water quality and ensure a sustainable water supply for the region, Metropolitan Council Environmental Services is working to plant landscapes that need less water, reduce runoff, and provide habitat for birds, bees, and butterflies.  For more information, see the Program Page. 
 

Site Plans

The Met Council is committed to maintaining its sustainable landscapes and has hired skilled landscape architects and contractors to design and manage the sites in your neighborhood. See below for sketches of the plans.
 

Metro Electrical Substation

Sustainable landscape site plan for the Metro Electrical Substation at the Metro WRRF facility in Saint Paul. In the area southeast of the intersection of 6th Street and Access Drive, there are three areas of dry mesic/oak savanna prairie with bee lawn around their perimeters, and two additional areas of bee lawn.

Metro Services Building

Sustainable landscape site plan for the Metro Services Building at the Metro WRRF facility in Saint Paul. There is a large area of dry mesic/oak savanna prairie southeast of the intersection of 2nd Street and North Perimeter Road, with a circular area of wetland vegetation within it. Smaller circles of traditional grass and shrubs are in the middle of the wetland circle and at its north, south, east, and west points. A path just south of this is bordered by a mix of bee lawn and traditional grass and shrubs. Three narrow areas of dry mesic/oak savanna prairie and one small area of traditional grass and shrubs are located north of the North Guard Shack and Parking areas.
