The Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) is an outreach program at the University of Minnesota. MnTAP helps Minnesota businesses develop and implement industry-tailored solutions that conserve groundwater, prevent pollution at the source, maximize efficient use of resources, and reduce energy use and costs to improve public health and the environment.

MnTAP has been providing services for 41 years including site visits, student interns, web resources, and a materials exchange program. MnTAP has been offering interns to support pollution prevention, energy and process efficiency, and water conservation projects at Minnesota businesses and industries since the mid 1980s. The partnership between Met Council and MnTAP began in 2012 with funding provided through the Clean Water Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota Legislature. Through 2024, the Met Council has funded 53 MnTAP interns at businesses throughout the metro region. They have identified improvements that have reduced water consumption in the metro region by an estimate 1.4 billion gallons of water.

Documentation in the form of final project presentations, project summaries, or other publications is available for all projects since 2013 and for select projects prior to 2013 on the MnTAP website.
