Metro Transit’s longest-serving bus driver is retiring after 41 years.
Sixty-two-year-old Renee Stafford had her normal passengers as well as family and friends on her final day as a bus driver.
She says it’s time to do something more relaxing.
Stafford plans to spend a lot of her time golfing and trying to sleep in past 3 a.m. She has been working the early shift for several years.
She says she is thankful she got a chance to be an operator and met so many lifelong friends.
"I will miss wheeling my living room around through downtown traffic and construction," Stafford said. "I will miss all my regular passengers."
According to Metro Transit, there have been five drivers who have retired after more than four decades.
