Livable Communities City, County, and Development Authority Partners
Built on partnership. Developed for impact.
You help guide growth and development in your community to help improve everyday life for the residents you serve. That means you can set the conditions for the kind of development your community needs and help find the development partner to bring that vision to life.
Livable Communities grants can be used for small area planning, policy and affordable housing program development, and development projects that add affordable housing, create community-centered commercial spaces, or clean up contaminated land.
Get more to do more
Livable Communities grants offer a wide range of advantages that make it easier for you to drive impactful development opportunities for your residents.
- Boost funding. You’re tied to a budget, so are local developers and community organizations. Livable Communities grants offer much-needed funding support to offset rising construction costs and to free up cash flow earlier in development projects.
- Spur private investment. The right partner shares your priorities. With incentives from the Livable Communities program, partners are more willing to bring private capital to projects that advance local and regional goals.
- Advance local plans. You have big plans for your city. Livable Communities grants can help propel comprehensive plans and equity goals forward.
- Try something new. Less risk leads to more opportunities. With Livable Communities grants, you can test new policies and innovations that directly benefit residents and the local economy.
- Showcase your leadership. Position your city as a great place to live by proactively addressing residents' needs while supporting diverse partners.
Your role is key
Cities, counties, and development authorities are the
only eligible applicants to the Livable Communities program. Cities, counties, and development authorities can:
- Apply directly for city-led activities like small area planning and policy and affordable housing program development
- Partner with a developer or consultant to sponsor an application for a development project.
To be eligible to apply, the city in which the project is located must be
enrolled in the Livable Communities program and in good standing. If your city is not yet enrolled or needs to get up to date with program requirements, please contact
Livable Communities manager Emily Seddon.
