Minnehaha Creek Sewer Repair
Project Description
Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (Met Council), operator of the regional wastewater system, is responding to a sewer infrastructure malfunction near 10th Avenue South and East Minnehaha Parkway in Minneapolis. We are installing large sandbags in the creek to divert water away from the riverbank. Sewer service will not be interrupted, and there is no wastewater leak.
Water from Minnehaha Creek is entering a structure in this area, which is part of the Metropolitan Council regional sewer system. Met Council crews began immediate repairs, which are estimated to take up to one month. During daytime repair work, residents can expect to see and hear construction efforts on our region’s critical infrastructure. These efforts will include excavation equipment and tree removal.
What to Expect
The walking and biking trail south of Minnehaha Creek between 10th Avenue South and 12th Avenue South will be closed for construction for the duration of the repairs and restoration work this summer.
Site restoration begins on June 29 with coordination from the Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board and Minnehaha Creek Watershed District.
