Fall 2026 Project Update
Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (Met Council) suspended current plans to relocate the current Hastings Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) from its current location near downtown Hastings to a new site along Ravenna Trail. The relocation project was driven by challenges at the existing WRRF site for major renewal or expansion of the plant to respond to growth and changes in regulatory requirements. Those challenges remain, and a solution will be sought to meet the wastewater treatment needs of Hastings and the southeast metro area.
Met Council is working with the City of Hastings and other communities in the southeast metro on a long-term solution for wastewater service for this area. Met Council is committed to providing continued reliable wastewater treatment services to meet the needs of Hastings, and studies are ongoing to identify the most cost-effective approach to provide wastewater conveyance and treatment systems that protect public health and the region’s water resources.
